Created while artist in residence at Laughing Waters, Eltham on Wurundjeri country. A self portrait within a ‘hybrid landscape’ fusing local flora with an animal emblem of TextaQueen’s ancestral land of India as allegory of diasporic identity. An elephant never forgets – it’s trunk spills legacy as a milky liquid falling upon the artist sitting amongst smaller trunks uncurling from the indigenous ferns, in representation of her neocolonial presence upon others’ ancestral lands.
