“THE STAR
step through, O star
unfixed, toe dip to
tightly leap through
everywhere i went
to find you the movie is a light”
– Christopher Kirubi, Bollywouldn’t
ID: A daytime photo of Black Cultural Archives, a minimalist building foregrounded by grass and a path. On its side is an early Bollywood poster style mural of a tall, slender, medium-brown person with top knot and very long black braid. Behind them is an erupting volcano amidst green slopes against blue sky. Lava flows to mid-ground where it steams as it meets a blue river. The figure wears a chartreuse gown that is semi-deconstructed – one and a half shoulder straps, translucent in sections, pieces missing – giving high fashion apocalypse. They pose, an arm above head with hand bent, the other bent to the side with their braid falling over it, one long leg stepping out of the gown and dipping toes in water. In the lava is a small silhouette of a charred couple embracing. The bottom left corner shows a red title in Hindi ‘प्रस्फुटन’ against a rough white shape.
