Grown Flown Unknown (self-portrait).
There is a white Aussie racist slogan that has often been yelled at those of us who are people of colour from immigrant backgrounds: “We grew here, you flew here”. I have re-claimed a variation of this on my chest as ‘Grown Flown Unknown”. Emerging from a flower made of a rainbow of feathers, I’m blossomed, alight, emerged and while I am other-ed I am empowered, centered in the ‘exotic’ feather-flower.
