Mural for Rezza Murals, City of Darebin
The mural considers the indigenous flora of its location on Wurundjeri land, and the diverse cultures of the people living in the Darebin area to create a cornucopia of complicated, hopeful abundance. Featured indigenous flora includes the Coral Pea, Silver Banskia, Woolly Tea Tree, native Bluebells, and Blue Flax Lily. Pomegranates are featured for their significance across many Mediterranean, Arabic and Asian cultures – variously a symbol of fertility, beauty, divine artistry, abundance and eternal life. This surreal vision tentatively evokes a future of harmonious abundance.
